According to you this is because of the re-coding, but I guess it's also because I chose wrong settings. My various test runs will all output a video that is visibly worse than the original. Is it correct that Downsampling is a 'lossless' procedure compared to Upsampling (creating higher bitrates, higher resolutions)? So my questions are: what is the best procedure, what are the best import settings in my editor for my raw video ? Should I just keep with the settings above (854x480 etc.) or can I chose higher settings? In fact I guess that my special program removing the logo works best the more pixels the video has for processing. I will then leave the file as is, maybe reducing its bitrate in order to have a smaller file on Hard Disk. I must build a MPEG4 output file in my video editor because the special program will apparently only output in MPEG4. This guarantees that youll get high-quality.
This program will then output a file using the MPEG4 codec (not the H264) and keeping most of the initial settings but a different birate that may be lower. Currently, VSDC is the only free video editor that allows you to export videos using the new H265/HEVC codec. I have to edit the video to place a greyscale-rectangle over the logo and rebuild the video to send it to a special program that will remove (blur out) the rectangle to make the logo disappear.
The details are: mp4 file with 854x480 resolution, 606 bitrate, 25fps, H264 video codec (+ audio that I adjust as is).
This pixel size includes black borders + 1 TV logo which is in part placed on the black boarder and the actual image of the video.
My original video was a download which shows TV record in 4:3 format, the actual size is 854x480, which if I open it with my video editor is changed to 848x480 (which is exactly 4:3). Please allow me to describe what I intend to do with my video. I have to understand your point about 'lossless format'. VSDC Free Video Editor An In-Depth Review - By the way, VSDC is the only free video editor that has an option to export in H265/HEVC codec, so if you work with 4K videos and would like to keep the highest output quality - that's your best option. In general, is it correct to never chose higher settings than in the original, or doesn't this matter with a good video editor? What happens if I chose to import the video to work on by chosing either one or more of the following: a different format, a higher bitrate, a higher resolution or generally higher settings than the original videos, make changes and export it to the original settings again (also to the original format)? Will all this worsen the quality of the output file? I currently work on orginal videos with High Quality 480p, H264 format, 600 Bitrate, 25 fps + audio. After adjustements, a video in "raw format" is ready to be exported in various formats and settings which I can chose. When starting my edition work with my video editor, I can chose resolution, bitrate, audio options and then import a video.
I want to keep the video quality and not worsen it by wrong output settings. I have a basic question on the procedures concerning video edtion and the subsequent conversion into another format.
